Home Where We Work

South America

Countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay

Description: South America is home to over 320 million people and a wide variety of cultures, including Spanish, Italian, Korean, English, Irish, German, Polish, Jewish, and Ukrainian. In addition to the diversity of culture, there is a large gap in income, education, and political stability between the countries of South America.

Churches throughout this region are hungry for solid, relevant Bible teaching—the kind of teaching that ignites a passion for God's Word and leads to visible life-change. In the past, churches have been reluctant to work together, but that is changing. Alex Colombo and his team are working hard to establish strategic networks of pastors and church leaders who will work together to bring Walk Thru the Bible resources to all people in South America.

Regional Director: Alex Colombo
Born in Buenos Aires, Alex graduated from Word of Life Bible Institute for theological studies and earned his B.A. in Education. After moving to Paraguay, Alex founded Grace Education Center—a Christian school in Asunción, where he served as General Director and CEO. Prior to this, he and his wife, Mírta, founded the Educational Biblical Foundation, worked for the Theological Evangelical College of Asunción and Word of Life, and also planted a church in Fernando de Mora, Paraguay. Alex began serving as Walk Thru the Bible's regional director for South America in 2007 and moved back to Buenos Aires in 2008.

Alex and Mírta have two daughters: Laura and Sandra.
