Description: Poverty, HIV/AIDS, orphans, ethnic conflict, tribal religion, widespread illiteracy, untrained pastors—the list of challenges facing Southern Africa goes on and on. Lee Helling, Elvis Mvulane, and their team are reaching out to Africans of all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

From the orphans in Soweto to the leaders of local churches, Walk Thru the Bible Southern Africa is dedicated to the development of churches and the surrounding communities.

Regional Director: Lee Helling
Lee graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Communications degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. While still a college student, he attended his first Old Testament Learning Adventure program. While working with student ministry on a local university campus, Lee and another instructor formed Walk Thru the Bible Southern Africa. Initially, their activities were on a part-time basis; however, it didn't take long for their efforts to lead to tremendous impact throughout the region. Lee became the regional director in 2005.

Lee and his wife, Brigette, have three daughters: Robyn, Erin, and Laura.

After serving as church growth coordinator and Jesus Film coordinator for Africa, Elvis joined Walk Thru the Bible full-time in 2002.

Elvis earned his Bachelor of Theology with the Canadian College and is currently pursuing his Masters studies with South Africa Seminary. He is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene and has served as the local church pastor for over ten years.
